HAND-PAINED DEVOTEE ILLUSTRATIONS

Sacred Balance

Overview

Sacred Balance is a pair of original watercolour artworks of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi, created for a private office space. The intention behind the commission was quite clear from the start — to bring a sense of calm, clarity, and quiet prosperity into a space where everyday decisions are made.

The Concept & Approach

The client came in with specific reference images for both deities and wanted their form and symbolism to be preserved as is. So the process wasn’t about reimagining, but about carefully translating those references into something hand-drawn and detailed, while still holding on to the sanctity of the original forms.

Each figure was sketched slowly and refined over time, making sure the proportions, expressions, and overall presence felt balanced. Nothing was overdone. The focus stayed on keeping it simple, respectful, and grounded.

The Process

The artworks were built layer by layer. Once the line work was complete, each deity was carefully cut and mounted so the figures could stand slightly apart from the background.

The backgrounds were kept soft, created using gentle watercolour washes. The colours were chosen keeping Vastu in mind, so they not only looked balanced but also felt right within the space.

Arched frames were added around each figure to create a sense of structure, almost like a quiet sanctum. Around the edges, subtle floral line work brings in a bit of detail, just enough to add rhythm without taking attention away from the deities themselves.

The Details

The set includes two original artworks, created using watercolour and ink on paper, each sized at 12 × 14 inches. The pieces were commissioned specifically for a private office setting.

The Final Outcome

In the end, the artworks sit quietly within the space, doing what they were meant to do. They don’t demand attention, but you feel their presence.

They bring a sense of balance and stillness, something that supports both focus and reflection, without ever feeling heavy or formal.
