HAND-PAINTED WEDDING INVITE

The Illustrated Wedding Story

Overview

This project was about creating a fully illustrated wedding invitation suite that felt a little more like an experience than just a card. The idea was simple. When someone opens the invite, it should feel like they’ve already stepped into the wedding.

The Concept

Instead of designing it as one single piece, the entire suite was built as a series of hand-painted moments. Almost like small glimpses into the celebration. Each illustration captured a different part of the wedding, so as you move through the invite, the story slowly unfolds.

From the cover to the inner pages, everything was kept personal and connected, without trying too hard to make it look perfect or overly styled.

What Appears in the Work

The cover sets the mood. It takes cues from the venue and gives you a first sense of what the wedding might feel like. Inside, each illustration picks up from there, inspired by actual details like the décor, flowers, colour palette, and the way each space was planned.

Nothing was forced into place. The compositions were allowed to come together naturally, so the suite feels cohesive but not repetitive. Watercolour really helped with that. It keeps everything soft, slightly fluid, and easy on the eye.

The Final Outcome

In the end, it didn’t feel like a typical invitation anymore. It felt like something you’d want to keep. A set of artworks that quietly tell the story of the wedding, without saying too much, but still making you feel a part of it.
